Academic Partnerships

BILD offers several partnership programs with leading accredited colleges and universities. Many of these educational programs are offered in a cohort model where you attend class with other BJC team members, gaining a unique understanding of BJC’s business as you learn and grow together. BILD works with BJC’s HR Hub to get the most from your annual benefit to reduce your out-of-pocket costs, and we pay for your courses in advance to eliminate the need to pay for your tuition to start your classes.

Partnership Benefits for BJC Employees

There are many great benefits to participating in an academic partnership program:

  • Minimal out-of-pocket costs.
  • Tuition discounts make your tuition reimbursement money go farther.
  • Tuition is paid directly to the college/university, eliminating the need for you to come up with funds immediately.
  • Attend class online or at a BJC facility.
  • Learn alongside other BJC employees.
  • There are several convenient options for BJC employees to earn their degree while still balancing their commitments to work and family. A variety of programs with a variety of delivery formats and timelines are offered to meet your diverse needs. Each program prepares you to continue your career in a challenging and changing profession.

Getting Started

To participate in the Academic Partnership program, you will need to agree to the following:

  • Have open communication with the BILD academic partnership team, the HR Hub Tuition Team, and your college's academic advisor. Check your BJC email regularly as communication from BILD and HR Hub will be sent there.
  • Be familiar with applicable BJC policies, including 4.11 Tuition Assistance and 7.13 Employee Indebtedness.
  • You will use your tuition benefit to reimburse BJC upon the successful completion of each term. The tuition benefit and its policies are managed by the HR Hub Tuition Program Specialists. They are available to answer questions around your eligibility, benefit amounts and how to successfully complete an application. BILD and the HR Hub work closely so your benefit is applied accurately and timely.
    • To learn more about accessing the BJC HR Hub, please review this quick-reference guide. All questions regarding the use of your BJC Tuition Benefit must be directed to the HR Hub.
  • Take ownership of out-of-pocket costs incurred for:
    • drop fees
    • tuition fees in excess of the tuition benefit
    • failure to complete/submit necessary paperwork
    • failed grades (Below “C” in undergraduate and “B” in graduate courses, "Incomplete" for training programs)
  • After being accepted into your program, school orientation is held a few weeks before the start of most programs. At this meeting you will receive information from BILD, the HR Hub, and the school. Attendance at orientation is strongly encouraged.
  • Complete the online orientation in Saba to ensure you understand BJC expectations and instructions.
  • 60 Days to Day Class Starts: Complete the online Tuition Assistance Application for any term in which you wish to use your BJC Tuition Benefit.
  • Within 60 Days After Class Ends: Submit your class grades via the HR Hub for payment approval.

For employment opportunities available across the St. Louis Metro area, in both Missouri and Illinois.

Current BJC employees who are interested in transitioning to a Medical Assistant role at one of these hospitals first fulfill STLCC's admission requirements. STLCC student information is shared with BJC Human Resources for follow-up as a part of the application process. BJC then conducts a screening and interviewing process, and if selected you would officially transfer into a MA position. Your first few weeks of work are at STLCC in the classroom which is usually 5 days per week during the day. Once training is complete you are assigned to your regular hospital department and shift.

Your BJC Tuition Benefit covers the cost of tuition, however you may be responsible for other expenses such as books, uniforms, CPR certification, etc.

This program follows Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) training guidelines and prepares individuals to sit for the CNA exam.

Work with a dedicated STLCC advisor to create a personalized plan between classes offered online or at a St. Louis Community College campus (this program is not offered at a BJC site). In addition to the Associate's in Health Information Technology, a certification in Medical Billing and Coding is also available under this program.

Costs for this program vary based on the tuition rate and the number of credit hours per class, with an average class cost of $550. Should costs exceed your annual benefit amount, tuition continues to be paid to the school and you are are invoiced for any additional amounts, with payment plans available through BILD.

This program prepares its graduates for professional social work practice.
