About Stiften
The Edward J. Stiften Scholarship represents one of the many ways BJC HealthCare rewards excellence among its employees while supporting the organization’s commitment to deliver high quality patient care. The scholarship awards $5,000 towards tuition, books and fees for employees pursuing an ADN, BSN, MSN, or PhD. Scholarships are awarded biannually. More than 60 Stiften Scholarships have been awarded to BJC employees pursuing Nursing degrees.

The Stiften Scholarship is currently taking applications.
While it is not a requirement, applicants are encouraged to type their applications. If you need help in finding a computer with Microsoft Word, contact the Stiften coordinator at 314-362-0982. - Official transcripts can be mailed to the scholarship coordinator by the published deadline of June 30, 2010. St. Louis, MO 63144 - Selection is based upon packet completion, manager recommendation and personal statements submitted.
- Recipients are notified of award via phone call and a confirming letter from the Vice-President and Chief Learning Officer. Those candidate applicants not selected will receive written notification from the Vice-President and Chief Learning Officer sent to their home.
- Recipients register for classes and submit current tuition invoices to the scholarship coordinator for payment.
- Payment is made for current invoice amount only. For remaining balance of award, recipients register for next session of classes and submit invoice to coordinator for payment processing.
- Recipients are notified via mail of payment amount and remaining balance (each time payment is sent to school). * Note: BJC tuition reimbursement may be used after the scholarship award amount is depleted. By law, schools cannot carry a credit on a student’s account. If tuition reimbursement is applied first and then the scholarship money is applied, the student’s account will have a credit. This money would then be returned to the student. According to the scholarship limitations, employees may not financially benefit personally from the scholarship award.
